The Harwinton V.F.D. serves the 5,646 residents and businesses in the town of Harwinton in northwestern Connecticut. Chief John Fredsall oversees more than 50 volunteers who serve as firefighters as well as in support capacities, including fire police.

The Harwinton V.F.D. responded to more than 150 emergency calls in 2010, ranging from structure, brush and grass fires and motor vehicle accidents to public assists that included water evacuations and hazardous materials.

Besides serving the town, the Harwinton V.F.D. provides mutual aid to surrounding communities.

Regular membership meetings are held at the firehouse on Route 4 near the town's center on the first Monday night of every month.
